Are you good at recognising voices? Or do you want to play a game to see how good you are at distinguishing them?
If you are, we would like to invite you to take part in this research study being conducted by a masters' student at Leiden University! The study, as well as your rights as a participant, are described below:
Description of the experiment:
- This study will have participants listen to voice fragments of voice actors in various languages: Japanese, Mandarin, Korean and Catalan
- For each trial you will hear two voice fragments separated by a beep. You have to judge whether these two fragments are spoken by the same speaker. All fragments are from voice acting roles, meaning the speakers may have altered their voice depending on the role.
- Since this is a listening task, make sure to be in a quiet space or with headphones.
- There are a total of 57 trials with 2 breaks in between, as well as a few language background questions.
- There is a time limit of a week, meaning your answers will be saved for a week.
- The survey will take approximately 30 minutes if you listen to everything once.
Leaderboard (Optional)
- You can enter a nickname that will be used for a leaderboard with participant's scores. The leaderboard can be found HERE. It will be updated every few days.
- The top 3 receives a free art commission. Make sure to note down your email to be eligible for this!
- Regardless, your score will be shown to you after completing the survey. You can also see which questions you got right.
Participation
- Participation is until 20 April 2025
- The participation link can be sent to anyone that speaks English, however participation is only for people that are 18+
